Welcome to the Links page of the Scottish Paediatric Renal Urology Network's (SPRUN'S) website.

There are some useful links noted below and at the side of this page.

The website of the Renal Unit in Edinburgh has information under the EdRen INFO heading.

http://www.kidney.org.uk/

This British site has particularly good patient information and goes beyond End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Go to Medical Info and keep following links. The federation of UK kidney patient groups has a particularly good collection of patient information under the Medical heading. They also produce leaflets and have a help line.

From Wrexham Maelor Hospital and sponsored by a grant from the Wellcome Trust. Educational and entertaining animations of dialysis, vascular access, fluid balance and a bulletin board enliven this well produced site. This site is the result of collaboration between health care professionals, experts in information technology with multimedia applications, specialist health care writers and above all, people with renal failure, their families and carers.

From Baxter Healthcare but non-partisan. Amongst the best sites providing information on dialysis, with good comparisons of peritoneal versus haemodialysis. Even covers "no dialysis" briefly. Illustrated with "patient and carers" stories. Rather complicated to negotiate though (those new to the Net would probably find it confusing). An adult orientated site coming from the USA arm of Baxter.

The UK arm of Baxter. Particularly good on "what will happen to you" as kidney function worsens. Quite brief but very clear information in each section. Also a discussion board and lists of UK units etc., again adult orientated.
